Tesla Recalls Model Y Vehicles Due to Loose Bolt Issue

Tesla Recalls 3,470 Model Y Vehicles in the United States

Tesla Inc announced on Saturday that it is recalling 3,470 Model Y vehicles in the United States due to a potential safety issue. The recall is being carried out because bolts securing the second-row seatback frames may not have been securely tightened, according to a filing made public by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

A loose seat frame bolt may reduce the effectiveness of the seat belt system, which could increase the risk of injury during a crash. Tesla has identified five warranty claims that may be related to the issue since December, but the company said it is not aware of any injuries or deaths related to the recall.

Tesla will inspect bolts securing the second-row driver-side and passenger-side seat back frames to the lower seat frames and, if necessary, tighten them to specifications. In December, a Tesla supplier implemented improved process controls, along with improved training and supervision, to ensure that bolts are torqued to specifications.

If you own a 2022 or 2023 Model Y vehicle, it is important to check if your car is affected by this recall. Tesla has said that it will reach out to affected customers to schedule an appointment for the inspection and repair. It is recommended that owners of affected vehicles take immediate action to ensure their safety on the road.
