OnePlus, the Oppo-owned mobile brand, has recently showcased its new product, the OnePlus 11 Concept, at MWC. While this gaming phone may not see the light of day, the company is looking to make strides in improving the mobile gaming experience. OnePlus President and COO Kinder Liu explains that the company will make efforts in research and design of technology to improve gaming experience, but the commercial availability of these technologies will depend on market analysis and technology maturity.

The OnePlus 11 Concept features a new technology called “Active CryoFlux,” which involves a piezoelectric ceramic micropump moving coolant up and down a pipeline near the rear of the device and around the camera array. The rear of the device is transparent, showcasing the process as a light show. OnePlus hopes to encourage continuous innovation within the company and engage with its user base in conversations about improving the gaming experience.

Other device makers such as ASUS, Nubia, and Xiaomi are also focusing on the gaming market, while Samsung and Apple are making gaming more accessible on their flagship devices. OnePlus may follow the latter path, but the company has surprised consumers before. As smartphone sales slow, manufacturers are looking for new avenues to jumpstart sales, and gaming may be the next frontier.
