On March 23, Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to inaugurate the new Gwadar International Airport in the Gurandani area of Balochistan's Gwadar district. The airport, which was financed through a grant from the Chinese government under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, has been completed by the Civil Aviation Authority and is now deemed fully prepared and safe for flight operation.

The airport's construction, according to the CPEC website, created 3,000 jobs and is estimated to have cost $230 million. Its groundbreaking ceremony was held on March 29, 2019, by the then Prime Minister Imran Khan, who was the Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party at the time.

The inauguration of flight operations at Gwadar International Airport on Pakistan Day is an important milestone for the country's aviation industry and will contribute significantly to the region's economic growth.
