Babar Azam Makes History as Fastest Batsman to Reach 9000 Runs in T20s

Babar Azam, the skipper of Peshawar Zalmi, has made history by becoming the fastest batsman to reach 9000 runs in T20 cricket history. He achieved the feat during his knock of 64 runs in the first eliminator against Islamabad United in the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League.


Babar reached the milestone in just 245 innings, surpassing the previous record held by West Indian legend, Chris Gayle, who took 249 innings to achieve the feat. The Pakistani captain's innings included 10 fours and was instrumental in setting a perfect platform for his team.


After Babar and Gayle, Virat Kohli (271), David Warner (273), and Aaron Finch (281) are the next fastest to reach the 9k mark in T20 cricket.


Babar's incredible record extends beyond the fastest 9000 runs in T20 cricket. He also holds the record for the most T20 centuries (8) by any batsman in the world since 2019. Jos Buttler is the next on the list with 6 centuries.
